BOOK REVIEWS: Review of Duke of Deceit by Anna Harrington

Image
Duke of Deceit by Anna Harrington is a historical fiction book in which Lucien Grenier, Duke of Crewe, is quite happy with his bad reputation, which according to him helps him keep people at bay so they won't discover his dark secrets. Jessamyn St. Claire is proving to be a pain in the neck since she is determined to make people believe otherwise with the aim of forcing the duke into marrying her sister, who is in hiding, so as to protect her reputation after finding out that she's expecting a baby. But there's one problem: after meeting with the duke face-to-face Jess doesn't know for sure whether she wants the duke for herself or for her sister, but she has to continue with her mission no matter what. Lucien, on the other hand, cannot understand how Jess is neither intimidated by his bad reputation nor is she keeping off, and that's what makes him very attracted to her, although he knows that he can never marry anyone. I like the way the theme of the book came o...

BOOK REVIEWS: Review of Stuck Together by Lily Joseph

Image
Stuck Together by Lily Joseph begins when Anne had just lost yet another job as a waitress and she decided to cool down in a pub where she found a gig going on where Penn was one of the guitarists. She was surprised to see him come up to speak to her during the break, but it was just a brief encounter. Later on, they found themselves competing over a shop, which they had to share, although now they cannot stand each other's presence. Penn, who was having a strained relationship with his rich family, decided to ask Annie for a favor to attend a family ball and pose as his girlfriend, to which she unwillingly agreed. After spending a considerable amount of time together, they now don't know how to relate to each other anymore; they also can't figure out whether they are enemies or lovers. Readers will find out more in this book, Stuck Together by Lily Joseph.  I like the way the book is wide, not only dwelling on the main characters but also having a wide range of interesti...

Review of Coming Home to Starr’s Fall, by Kate Hewitt

Image
In the book Coming Home to Starr’s Fall, by Kate Hewitt , Laurie Ellis has made up her mind to move to Starr’s Fall to start over because she believes that it is her town of origin. Having grown up in foster homes, she now finds herself wanting to belong somewhere. The people here are welcoming and others are grumpy, Joshua Reilly being a good example of the grumpy ones. Life has taught her to be positive, which is the way to go when dealing with him. Surely there must be something buried deep within this handsome, grumpy bookstore manager, who seems to be living in a world of his own, needing no disturbance, even though he is her immediate neighbor. As she settles in this small town, life takes a different turn, making her make several life decisions. Find out more in this book,  Coming Home to Starr’s Fall, by Kate Hewitt . I like how simple yet intense the book is; maybe it's the setting of the story, which is based on a small town. The story draws out the contrast between small...
