Review of Damned if I Duke by Anna Bradley

Image
In the book, Damned if I Duke by Anna Bradley , Jasper Vincent, the Duke of Montford, is happy with the life he is leading, which is a careless life that his grandfather, Colonel Kingstone, disapproves of. His grandfather has been taking care of him since his parents passed away at an early age, and he's very fond of him regardless of his ways. After he tries to get rid of his ugly past, one of the sins of his past catches up with him when the daughter of a man he had tricked into gambling, and lost more than he had bargained for, namely prudence Thorne, appears in his life. According to her, she was trying to find a solution to redeem her father and get back what they had lost. After several unpleasant encounters between them, Jasper realizes that prudence despises him, but his grandfather thinks otherwise. In prudence, Colonel King Stone sees the next Duchess of Montford. Furthermore, he thinks that prudence will be the answer he has been looking for to make the Duke of Montford ...

Review of An Unlikely Arrangement, by Cindy Patterson

Image
Abigail Dupre is a young lady running away from the disgrace of her past sins, which has made her family relocate to Charlotte to let the gossip settle in their hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. To conceal her dishonorable past, her parents are blackmailed by William Arandel, a selfish man whose character is quite questionable, and Abigail loathes him. In an attempt to get away from William Randall, Abigail decides to redeem herself by seeking reconciliation with Randall Thorne, the man behind her dishonorable past, but this proves difficult with the unexpected appearance of Garret Barringer, who is not only blessed with good looks but has a perfect character. According to Abigail, only God can tell if she will find the happiness and self-forgiveness that have been lacking in her life, in the end. In this narration, I like the way the author has managed to come up with a fascinating romance story with a spiritual touch to it. For example, on page 230,”"Do you or do you not be...

Review of Rules to Live By by Jeffrey Katz

Image
Rules to Live By is a book written by Jeffrey Katz, a recognized interpreter of Maimonides’ teachings. Moses Maimonides was a Rabbi, physician, and philosopher. In this book, almost everything that one needs to know to enrich life is covered, both spiritual and physical, from character development, work, family, spiritual matters, and good health, to mention but a few. Although this book can be classified as a self-help book, it is more than that. It is a book that can be used as a life’s compass or a road map to navigate through life’s journey. It is also a book in which answers to difficult life questions can be sought. What I like about this book is the simplicity and practicality portrayed in it. Additionally, I like the depth of wisdom in the book—scientific, spiritual, and physical wisdom. The scientific wisdom example is on page 208. "Studies published on sleeping patterns have shown that those who nap one hour or more every day have nearly twice the risk of developing c...

However, this was not his choice but his mother's, who had arranged for a meeting with the bride's family. Review of Brighter Days By Patrick Regan

Image
Brighter Days by Patrick Regan is a book that revolves around mental well-being. It's a book that gives steps and demonstrations of how to cope with life's challenges and their aftermath. The author creates a professional awareness of the different negative responses that we go through sometimes; not able to recognize or even put a finger on the particular feelings, he brings them up on the surface and gives different ways of coping with them. The book offers ways of dealing with anxiety, depression, shame, anger, self-acceptance, and forgiveness, just to mention a few. What I like about the book is the way the author is well-informed about the subject of mental wellness. It shows in how he tackles different emotions comprehensively and with a firm touch of professionalism. I also like the way the author can get to the readers and show them that being “vulnerable and even having mental issues just implies that they are human”; the encouragement and lifting of people's spir...
